Metal matrix composites (MMCs) are one of the strongest candidates for use as structural materials in many high temperature and aerospace applications. The strength and high temperature performance of MMCs are related to their thermomechanical behavior. In this book, the effects of thermal strains on the materials' properties are examined at the microscopic and macroscopic levels, and are described for the first time in terms of a combination of continuum mechanics and dislocation mechanisms.
