Months after the last of the Wells sons jumped out of his bedroom window in Axton House (incidentally forgetting to open it first), a strange couple of Europeans arrive in Virginia to take possession of the estate. A. is the 23-year-old unforeseen scion; Niamh is the mute punk teen girl he refers to as his associate or his bodyguard. Both are ready to settle into their new cushy lifestyle, and the rumors about the mansion being haunted add to their excitement. But ghosts are not in any way the deepest secret of the house.
Through journals, letters, security footage, audio recordings, and ciphers, we follow A. and Niamh as they delve into Wells’ dubious suicide, the secret society he founded and its mysterious Game —a “bourgeois pastime” of global proportions— in Edgar Cantero’s dazzling and original gothic adventure.

Everybody loves a ghost story...The heir to Axton House and his companion are delighted to find themselves living in one. With it come nightmares, a secret society and a curse. A ghost may soon be the least of their worries. Part ghost story, part cerebral mystery, this is a dazzling and wholly original supernatural adventure.About the Author:
Edgar Cantero (Barcelona, 1981) is a writer and cartoonist. The rich and highly cultured Catalan literary tradition soon lost influence on him in favour of Hollywood blockbusters, videogames and English-language genre fiction. In 2007 he joined the often-trialled satirical magazine El Jueves and published his debut novel, Dormir amb Winona Ryder ("Sleeping with Winona Ryder"); it was followed by the punk dystopian thriller Vallvi in 2011. His material, ranging from short stories to screenplays, often features butt-kicking female characters, colourful violence, sunsets, thunderstorms, and ill-timed jokes. The Supernatural Enhancements is his first book in English.
