About the Author:

Dr M. Scott Peck was a leading psychiatrist and bestselling author of inspirational self-help books. A graduate of both Harvard University and Case Western Reserve, Dr Peck served in the Army Medical Corps from 1963 to 1972 and had a private practice in psychiatry from 1972 to 1983. In 1984, he and his wife Lily helped found the Foundation for Community Encouragement, a nonprofit organisation which he devoted much of his time to until his death in 2005. See the author website: www.mscottpeck.com

From AudioFile:

Scott Peck is a psychiatrist turned author and lecturer. His name is a household word with the self-help crowd. In People of the Lie, Peck takes on the topic of evil. The"volume" cited is not an abridgment but a group of case studies from the first chapters of the book, along with commentary. The presentations are consistently well done. Peck reads with a soft, yet strong voice that is both self-assured and reassuring. D.W.K. (c)AudioFile, Portland, Maine

Book Description Cornerstone, United Kingdom, 2006. Paperback. Condition: New. Language: English. Brand new Book. A gripping book from the bestselling author of hugely popular self-help book, The Road Less Travelled. Leading psychiatrist and self-help pioneer Dr M.Scott Peck reveals his encounters with evil, during sessions with patients of his psychiatric therapy."The patient suddenly resembled a writhing snake of great strength. . . More frightening than the writhing body, however, was the face. The eyes were hooded with lazy reptilian torpor. . ." This is the second bestselling book by Dr M. Scott Peck. In this gripping psychology book, the leading psychiatrist describes his encounters during psychiatric therapy with patients who are not merely ill but manifestly evil - People of the Lie. This brilliant, disturbing book forces us to confront the darker side of our natures and to recogise that without spiritual and religious dimension, modern psychiatry cannot claim to understand human nature or behaviour. It is a worthy successor to The Road Less Travelled. Seller Inventory # AAZ9780099728603
