A humorous picture book about Michael, the worst boy in the school. He is always late, always scruffy and always just slightly different. There seems to be no hope for him, but the story has a twist to it. Tony Bradman's many other titles include The Sandal.

Tony Bradman's previous titles include Daddy's Lullaby and The Magnificent Mummies. Tony Ross is the author of many books, including The Boy Who Cried Wolf and Wash Your Hands! From School Library Journal:
PreSchool-Grade 1-- Michael is an outcast, a unique specimen. The other kids in school look alike; they dress alike, while Michael is "a little scruffy." He likes reading, math, science, and art but he's not interested in the way these subjects are being taught. He's single-mindedly preoccupied with the desire to build and fly a rocket ship. His teachers, who consider him the "worst boy in school," do nothing to support his interest. Michael is on his own, and although he does just fine, accomplishing his goal by the end, the book says nothing for our education system. One line of text per page acts as a springboard for each double-page spread. Ross uses his bold, loud style to good effect. The heavy, loose line and watercolor illustrations are sure to elicit a laugh or two from a willing audience, yet the text itself never takes off. Michael may be unusual but building a spaceship is not a new idea. --Martha Topol, Interlochen Public Library, MI
