The DVLA is the largest agency of the Department of Transport, and its principal responsibilities are the registration and licensing of drivers in Great Britain and vehicles in the United Kingdom, and the collection and enforcement of Vehicle Excise Duty in the UK. They also provide a wide range of other services, related to their main responsibilities, to a variety of customers. This report examined the Agency and the Department on: how customers and the services they require are identified; the economy and efficiency of the Agency's provision of services; and the quality of service achieved.
