According to the Oxford English Dictionary an encyclopedia is an elaborate and exhaustive reportory of information on all branches of some particular art or department of knowledge eseciall one arrange in alphabetical orders. This seems as good a definitiobn as any for what we have set out to do in this encyclopedia although some limitations have to be placed on the concept of exhaustiveness. For a name to quality as a 'make of car', there must be some evidence of an intention to manufature, even if it was not a success, and resulted in no more than a single phototype.
