This Naval Staff History, originally published on a restricted basis, and not on sale to the general public, is now available in four books.
Book 1 provides a summary of the strategy of the war with Japan and a description of Japan's military and economic situation, including the Japanese assault on the British, American and Dutch possessions which began in 1941.
Book 2 describes the operations in the Solomon Islands which stopped the Japanese advance southward, and the campaign in New Guinea which furnished the Allies with a main base in the Admiralty Islands.
Book 3 covers the reconquest of Burma and the operations of the Eastern Fleet.
Book 4 opens with a description of the military situation of the Japanese and ends with their surrender on August 14th.
