Recent technical and theoretical advances have made developmental epidemiology possible of mental retardation and developmental disabilities. This book describes this emerging discipline by exploring the methodological, statistical, and theoretical advances within the field, followed by epidemiological findings employing these methods and procedures. Coverage includes record linkage as a research strategy, geographical analysis of large populations, and statistical methods to match variables, offset limitations of small sample sizes, and how best to deal with multiple outcome variables.
