Dr. Andrew Paterson is an associate professor of Plant Molecular Genetics at Texas A&M University, teaching courses in genetic and molecular analysis of eukaryotic genomes. Dr. Paterson earned his B.S. in Plant Science at the University of Delaware, his M.S. in Plant Breeding and PhD in Plant Genetics at Cornell University, where he studied as a postdoctoral fellow in Plant Molecular Genetics. He worked as a Research Biochemist in Agricultural Biotechnology at E.I. duPont de Nemour, and held an adjunct appointment at the University of Delaware before moving to Texas A&M in 1991. He is the author or co-author of more than 35 publications, many chapters and abstracts, and is a widely-sought speaker. His research team studies organization, evolution, and function of plant genomes, and the molecular basis of crop productivity.
