Frank Schmalleger, Professor Emeritus, The University of North Carolina at Pembroke, is the director of the Justice Research Association, a consulting firm focussing on issues of crime and justice. Schmalleger is also the founder and co-director of the Criminal Justice Distance Learning Consortium.
Rebecca Volk is a coordinator and professor in the Police Foundations Program at Algonquin College in Ontario. She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Queen’s University, and an applied master’s degree in criminology from the University of Ottawa.
In addition to teaching, Volk’s professional experience has included involvement with a variety of offender aftercare and advocacy agencies, federal and provincial correctional institutions and residential centres, legal aid services, and various police agencies. She serves on the boards of several organizations devoted to assisting the disenfranchised.
