More tales of seemingly frightening and horrible situations, each resolved in a harmless, ordinary outcome or explanation.

Gr 3-6 This third in the series is a slight collection of five cliff-hanger stories that contains stale puns and action taking place in the second person. Each story is broken into chapters, as if to suggest that readers can choose their own outcome, but actually, these are simply breaks in sequence that force readers to skip a few pages and read on. A didactic undertone seems to stress the fun of being scared. Content revolves around plumbing noises and slime or the old alligator in the toilet routine and other overworked cliches. Frascino's gray cartoon illustrations are messy, monstrous and undistinguished. Leslie Chamberlin, Napa City-County Library, Calif.
