From the Back Cover:

From reviews of the text:

“I consider this one of the best child development texts in existence... far more applied than the majority of textbooks and dedicated to an unbiased, culturally diverse description of development.”

– Lisa Pescara-Kovach, The University of Toledo

“This is the strongest, most informative text on Child Development that I have encountered....The sensitivity to cultural and bioecological issues is just outstanding. ...The information is current and is presented in great detail and depth. I also appreciate the strong supplemental resources that are made available to students.”

– John Corey Steele, Loyola University Chicago

“The reason that we continue to use this text is that it is the best one that covers the theory of child development along with practical applications, in particular to teaching.... Seeing written and drawn products helps future teachers analyze the kinds of artifacts that they can expect to see in the classroom.”

– Elizabeth Pemberton, University of Delaware

“The synthesis and summaries of research in each of the chapters are very detailed ... suggestions for application in each chapter are appropriate and in line with the research evidence ... observation guidelines are helpful for students to anticipate what to look for when working with children.  It is also written in a very accessible style.”

– Julia Torquati, University of Nebraska-Lincoln
