Grade 1-3 The 14th "Little Witch" book (Prentice-Hall) contains ideas for cat crafts such as making a Tom-Cat Hat and Alley Cat puppets, suggestions for a Cat Costume Party and general tips on cat care. The activities are unattractively presented in sloppy orange and black drawings and show little imagination. For example, one craft suggests cutting off glove thumbs, sewing them onto old socks and adding a cat face. Why not just use old mittens? The tips for cat care are so brief that important facts are not included. When explaining what to look for when adopting a cat, Glovach advises asking whether or not the cat has had any shots and, if so, which ones. The names of the shots the cat should have are not mentioned. More useful hints on cat care can be found in Tomie de Paola's The Kids' Cat Book (Holiday , 1979), and more attractive party themes, games and foods are featured in Maureen Roffey's Let's Have a Party (Bodley Head, 1978).
