Aingelda Ardizzone is Edward Ardizzone's daughter-in-law. She studied at the Slade School of Fine Art, and made up the story of The Little Girl and the Tiny Doll when her own children were small. Edward Ardizzone (1900-1979) illustrated over 200 books and was awarded the Kate Greenaway Medal for Tim All Alone. He was awarded the CBE in 1971.
