Synopsis
In the dark, final days of World War Two, two submarines set out from Japan bearing a deadly virus destined for US cities. But neither boat was heard of again ...Present day: NUMA Special Projects Director Dirk Pitt rescues a team of scientists from a deadly cloud of poison gas in the North West Pacific. Discovering that this was no natural phenomenon, Pitt is quickly on the hunt for a pair of lost WWII submarines and their deadly cargo. But he soon learns that he's not the only one searching for the virus: a sinister group of very able terrorists are aiming to relaunch the attack on the US some sixty years later. With time running out, only Dirk Pitt and the NUMA team stand between evil forces and a terrifying assault on America's west coast...

About the Author
Clive Cussler (Author) Clive Cussler is the author and co-author of a great number of international bestsellers, including the famous Dirk Pitt (R) adventures, such as Odessa Sea; the NUMA (R) Files adventures, most recently Nighthawk; the Oregon Files, such as Typhoon Fury; the Isaac Bell historical thrillers, which began with The Chase; and the recent Fargo Adventures which lastly included The Romanov Ransom. The chimera virus, a genetically mutated deadly brew, is released in a remote Alaskan village. Dirk Pitt and his sister, Summer, learn that Kang, a South Korean industrialist, is the culprit, and their death-defying pursuit of him ensues before Kang can loose more of the virus on the continental United States. Ron McLarty uses his versatile vocal range to flow easily between Asian and American accents, giving the impression of multiple narrators. When Dirk and Summer are captured and left to drown, he portrays their desperation with riveting bursts of staccato dialogue.
