This title presents another collection of wacky and varied short stories, stories to be read and enjoyed at a sitting. They're about a boy who is able to grow new fingers, but not always in the right places; the dead dog that isn't quite what it seems; the last request of a grandfather; a man-eating ghost; a parrot that teaches unpleasant lessons and much more.

Paul Jennings is particularly concerned to make reading fun and interesting for children, instead of a chore. He works as a lecturer in Teacher and Adult Education. Paul has won many Australian awards - in 1992 he won an award in every children's choice list in the country. He lives in Australia. From AudioFile:
These stories perfectly capture the lives and spirits of adolescent boys. From corny to poignant to terrifying, Stig Wemyss conveys the tone of each story. The production's sound effects add to Wemyss's ability to capture every emotion a kid could ever have, especially when embarrassing things happen. The best story here involves a kid who gets a toilet seat stuck on his head. (The lid keeps closing on him quite unceremoniously.) Wemyss is perfect in his portrayals of the kid insulting everyone, including old ladies and bikers with beer bellies. Surprisingly, a parrot forces him to mend his ways. Wemyss makes listeners believe Jennings's stories are possible, to the delight of listeners young and old. S.G.B. © AudioFile 2006, Portland, Maine-- Copyright © AudioFile, Portland, Maine
