About the Author

R. Mahalakshmi studied history at Osmania University and Central University, Hyderabad, and holds a doctorate from Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. Currently, she is assistant professor at the Centre for Historical Studies, JNU, where she teaches ancient Indian history.
