Reviews

Gr. 1. Each line of text is short and rhyming: "I see a rose. / I see a nose." A boy walks along and sees all sorts of things, tops and mops, cats and mats. At the book's conclusion, he looks in a pond and sees his own reflection. It is Keller's precise ink-and-watercolor artwork that lifts this above an ordinary easy reader with a similar text. The pictures are crisp; there's plenty to see but the art will also keep new readers focused on the words. A snappy introduction to reading from the Green Light Reader series. Ilene Cooper
