This is the official United States Air Force history of the Korean War—the record of the air war as it really was. Begun in 1950, almost at the outbreak of hostilities, it chronicles accomplishments and failures, events heroic and unpleasant, the whole multitude of incidents that made up the vital contribution of the Air Force to the conflict.

Air superiority was the key to survival and success for U.N. forces in the Korean War, and this history analyzes the means of achieving and maintaining that superiority.
