Synopsis

This is the first book that combines current clinical practice and occupational health practice to provide guidance on the medical aspects of fitness for a wide range of medical conditions and occupations. The book addresses such issues as: Is the employee medically suitable for recruitment? Is the employee fit to return to his former job? If not, what would be a suitable job alternative and what limitations to normal employment should be imposed? Introductory chapters on services for the disabled and administrative and legal aspects precede the main chapters which cover a wide range of medical conditions, including cardiovascular, neurological, gastro-intestinal, hepatic, renal, and hematological disorders. Dermatology, orthopedics, locomotor disorders, AIDS, back-pain, diabetes, and epilepsy are also discussed.
