Whether you believe in ghosts or not, it's fun to read about them. There are plenty of them here, along with assorted goblins and ghouls--even Dracula makes an appearance. And you'll find out the origins of all the Halloween traditions, plus tips on how to throw a spooky party, make a great skeleton costume, turn your living room into a witches' coven, and lots of other magic tricks, jokes, games, and Halloween fun.
But that's not all. There are lots of stories here, too. Stories about hauntings, witches, wizards, monsters and magic. Roderick Hunt has collected everything you'll ever want to know about this spookiest of holidays. It'll chill your blood not just at Halloween but on all those times when the wind howls and things go bump in the night.
P.S. Look out, he's behind you!

From School Library Journal:
About the Author:
Roderick Hunt started out as a teacher, but began writing for children in 1970. Now he says, "On my income tax form I put down my profession as storyteller. It never fails to raise an eyebrow." He lives in London.
Gr 4-6Ghosts, Witches: and Things Like That presents a whole cauldron of ghoulish tales and creepy crafts that kids will love. Between the book's covers lurk werewolves, ghost stories, magic tricks and spooky poems. Folklore, recipes and crafts are also included; instructions for building a chamber of horrors and a recipe for a gruesome red gelatin hand will be sure hits. Though almost all the subjects covered here are familiar ones, its nice to see so many terrifying topics all in one book. The book's eclectic contents and its large color illustrations plus black-and-white drawings make it ideal for browsing. Instructions for craft projects and recipes are clear and logical; the only difficulties arise from occasional Briticisms (which for the most part, are deducible from context). Both metric measurements and non-metric equivalents are provided in the recipes. Librarians will find this book helpful in fulfilling the many requests they get for stories about and pictures of spooky things. Cathryn A. Camper, Minneapolis Public Library
