Fiddle Time Joggers is a first book of very easy pieces for violin with open string pieces and tunes using the finger pattern 0-1-23-4. There are well-known tunes and original pieces from rock to calypso using simple slurs and a few dynamics. Notice-boards introduce new notes and rhythms and there are easy duets to play. The book comes with CD, providing performances of all the pieces with accompaniments using piano and other instruments. A separate book of straightforward piano accompaniments is available.

Kathy Blackwell is an experienced peripatetic string teacher, currently working for Oxfordshire County Council. She has a special interest in teaching the violin and viola to young children, both individually and in groups. Her determination to find the very best pieces - well written and accessible, tuneful and catchy - led directly to the creation of the Fiddle/Viola/Cello Time series.
