Classics, modern fiction, non-fiction and more. Written for secondary and adult students the Oxford Bookworms Library has seven reading levels from A1-C1 of the CEFR. It is 1547 in London, and Tom is a pauper. His father sends him onto the streets of London to beg for money every day, and hits him when he brings nothing back. But Edward is a prince, the son of King Henry VIII, and he has everything. There is something very unusual about these boys: they are from different worlds, but they look the same. When they meet one day, a mistake puts each boy into the wrong life. So what happens when a prince lives as a pauper, and a pauper lives as a king? CEFR A2/B1 Word count 9,304

Mark Twain was born Samuel Langhorne Clemens in 1935 in Missouri, USA. He trained and worked as a printer until 1857 when he became an apprentice pilot on the steamboats of the Mississippi River. After a brief spell as a miner in Nevada he took up journalism and began using the pen name Mark
Twain. Some years of travelling and lecturing followed and in 1870 he married and settled in Connecticut where, in 1876, he wrote The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. The sequel, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, was published eight years later. Clemens suffered great tragedy in later life with the death
of his wife and two daughters. He died in 1910.
