Synopsis

Raising and Educating a Deaf Child is not a "how to" book or one with all the "right" answers for raising a deaf child; rather, it is a guide through the conflicting suggestions and programs for raising deaf children, as well as the likely implications of taking one direction or the other.

About the Author
Marc Marschark is a Professor and Director of the Center for Education Research Partnerships at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf, a college of Rochester Institute of Technology, and a Professor in the School of Psychology at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland. His books include IPsychological Development of Deaf Children/I (1993), IEducating Deaf Students: From Research to Practice/I, with H. Lang and J. Albertini (2002), ISign Language Interpreting and Interpreter Education/I, with R. Peterson and E. Winston (2005), IAdvances in the Spoken Language Development of Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Children/I, with P. E. Spencer (2006), and IAdvances in the Sign Language Development of Deaf Children/I, with B. Schick and P. E. Spencer (2006). Marschark is also Editor of the IJournal of Deaf Studies and Deaf Education/I, published by Oxford University Press.
