Paperback. Condition: Very Good. First published in 1988, Fitness for Work has grown to become the UK 'bible' of occupational health and the Faculty of Occupational Medicine's flagship publication. This fourth edition reflects significant developments in legislation and guidelines, and changes in the information requirements of those working in the field. Demographic factors, such as an ageing population, and changes in work practice and social and political policy, mean the need for advice on the effedts of medical conditions on employments and working capability is increasing. In keeping with previous editions, chapters are organized by medical condition, and co-authored by both a topic specialist and a specialist occupational physician. The reader will find practical guidance on the employment potential and assessment of anyone with an illness or disability. There is additional coverage of the ethical and legal aspects of ill health at work. There is an attempt to include, where possible, the evidence base and guidelines behind the findings. This update also reflects recent government focus on a more holistic approach to health problems in employment, and initiatives to encourage peoplet o stay at work and return to work, rather than supporting them at home. To an extent, occupational medicine must be tailored to individual patients under unique and specific circumstance. However, this book provides a wealth of useful consensus guidance, codes of practice, and locally evolved standards, to enable clinical judgements to be made. It is the most comprehensive text available on the effects of ill health on employment. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged. Seller Inventory # GOR002536188
