Key Benefit: Most people today are trying to be "in better shape," more health-conscious, and more healthy overall; yet many do not understand the fundamentals of good health and do not know how to begin practicing good health. This book provides a way to make sense of the various components of health, including nutrition, fitness, sexuality, violence and abuse, stress, disease, addiction, and environmental health, among many others. Key Topics: As noted researchers in the field of health education, Rebecca Donatelle and Lorraine Davis emphasize the essential health information needed for a comprehensive understanding of health promotion and disease prevention. Presented from a behavioral management perspective, the information in this book provides readers with the practical means through which to assess and manage their health behaviors. Additionally, the book thoroughly examines health care in America and includes discussion of gender issues, injury prevention, the role of community health, prevention strategies, and consumer health.Market: Health professionals, physical education teachers and students.
