In these he has excluded cases of gout. Med. Record, June 2.) A remarkable case of catalepsy, occurring in the Cochin Hospital, Paris, is recorded in Med. Record, June 2. Those who are interested in this subject will find the case worth reading. A very interesting case of arterial transfusion of defibrinated blood, after haemorrhage from the bowel in typhoid fever, is given by Dr. Moslen, of Greifswald (Med. Record, June 2). The case was successful, although the patient was in a state of extreme collapse, drowsy, and with cold extremities. Three other cases are also quoted by Dr. M. It would seem, from these cases, and others referred to, that transfusion with defibrinated human blood is quite as successful as blood containing its fibrin, and therefore ought to be preferred. Dr. M. took a pound and a-half of blood from the arm of a strong labourer, whipped it, and filtered it in a water-bath at 104 Fahr., and injected into the radial artery about six ounces. Dr. Schramm (Med. Rec, June 2) gives his experience of the use of nitrite of amyl in melancholia:--"After quoting Browne and Brunton, who have experimented with it in this country, he gives his results as follows.
