Review
Bruce Chatwin died a young man in 1989 having secured a reputation as an exquisitely sensitive and original travel writer and novelist. He was indeed an indefatigable traveler whose journeys sought out the big sky and empty spaces of South America (In Patagonia), the Australian outback (The Songlines), and the African desert (The Viceroy of Ouidah). This is a selection of his lesser writings that draws on magazine pieces, bits of memoirs, and reviews that do not reflect the scope of the man, but will give Chatwin fans another shot of his restless spirit.
About the Author
Bruce Chatwin (1940–1989) was the author of In Patagonia, The Viceroy of Ouidah, On the Black Hill, The Songlines, and Utz. His other books are What Am I Doing Here and Anatomy of Restlessness, posthumous anthologies of shorter works, and Far Journeys, a collection of his photographs that also includes selections from his travel notebooks.
