This book addresses the period of European history between ancient and modern times, the Middle Ages (sometimes called the Dark Ages). The author views the time around the 14th and 15th centuries, not as announcing the Renaissance, but as the end of the Middle Ages, as the age of medieval thought in its last phase of life, as a tree with overripe fruits, fully unfolded and developed. A wonderful, well-researched historical book and very collectible.
