About the Author:

Christopher Hibbert is the author of many highly acclaimed books, including Disraeli, Edward VII, George VI, The Rise and Fall of the House of Medici; The English: A Social History; and Cavaliers and Roundheads.

John Sutherland is Lord Northcliffe Professor Emeritus at UCL and visiting Professor of Literature at the California Institute of Technology. He is the author of several books, including How to Read a Novel: A User's Guide.
