In this contemporary romance, the infidelities are committed by a brilliant medical researcher who sacrifices scientific integrity for fame, and his wife, a spirited opera singer who gets back at him for cheating by running off to Nice with a world-renowed conductor. Judith Krantz's fans will enjoy Bright's fourth novel. Though the dialogue is studded with cliches, the narrative style is lively and breezy, and the book is cleverly plotted without being slick. Besides the predictable wealthy, beautifully-dressed protagonists, who vacation in lush settings, there are some real people, too, such as a poor, single mother with multiple sclerosis who wages a custody battle for her son. Plenty of good guys and interesting skunks here; recommended for most public library collections. Joyce Smothers, Ocean Cty. Lib., Toms River, N.J.
