Excerpt from Sermons on the Litany, the Church One, Catholic, Apostolic and Holy, and the Communion of Saints: Reprinted From 'Sermons for the Christian Year'
I have thought it might be good for us, my brethren, during this Epiphany season, to go over the Prayer book, by catechizing the children in it as we did with the Baptism service last year. And I have chosen the Litany; a portion of the service which I am sure must be very dear to us all, if we really are used to attend to the solemn service of God: and concerning which it was said by one of the best and wisest of our fore fathers, that it is 'a work, the absolute perfection whereof upbraideth with error or something worse those whom in all parts it doth not satisfy.'

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book presents a series of sermons on the Litany by the renowned 19th-century theologian John Keble. Originally delivered as a catechism to children and expanded into sermons, Keble's teachings aim to aid readers in their understanding of the Church's service and relevance in their daily lives. The author presents the Litany as a guide that progressively leads readers through the different dimensions of their faith, their prayers transforming from a simple recitation into a deep personal engagement with God. Each sermon offers a distinctive meditation on themes such as the Trinity, the Incarnation, and the nature of sin, providing a rich tapestry of insights into the Christian faith and its practices. Keble's sermons not only explore the historical and theological underpinnings of the Litany but also offer practical guidance on how individuals can incorporate its teachings into their spiritual journeys.
