The importance of the air brake as a factor in the operation of railway trains may be realized, -to some ex tent at least, when we pause for a moment to consider that it is even more powerful in results obtained than is the locomotive that pulls the train. Although this as sertion may appear to be startling, it is nevertheless true, as can be easily proven by reference to the records obtained by the use ofthe dynamometer car.
