Excerpt from A Journal of Reparations

These contemporaneous notes constantly refer to incidents which are personal and irrelevant to their main subject the First Committee of Ex perts. I have not omitted these references because I want to preserve them for my family, and because in a general way they indicate the environment and atmosphere in which the work was carried on. In the Appendix there are inserted letters and telegrams relative to the progress of the completed plan after I had left Europe. Some of these relate to situations after its ratification by the nations concerned and the beginning of the work in Ger many under the methods prescribed by the plan.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book compiles the diary and records of Charles G. Dawes, the Chairman of the First Committee of Experts, who were tasked with bringing economic stability to Germany. Dawes' account of the endeavor not only illustrates the day-to-day struggle of the committee to implement its plan but also sheds light on international relations in the early 20th century. While the intricacies of reparations, budget balancing, and currency stabilization might seem daunting, Dawes' frank and often amusing observations bring these complexities to life. This book presents a granular look into the processes that shaped Europe after the Great War, providing valuable insights for anyone interested in diplomatic and economic history. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
