About the Author

John Macnamara was Professor of Psychology at McGill University, Canada, and the author of Names for Things: A Study of Human Learning (MIT Press, 1982) and A Border Dispute: The Place of Logic in Psychology (MIT Press, 1986). He died in 1995.
