This book probes into the complexities of the Caisse de la Dette Publique Ãgyptienne, an international commission established in the late 19th century to oversee Egypt's public debt. The author delves into the historical, legal, and political context surrounding its creation to illuminate its unique nature and functions. The work analyzes the evolving role of the Caisse's commissioners, examining how their responsibilities shifted alongside Egypt's changing international status. Through a meticulous examination of diplomatic negotiations, international agreements, and the Caisse's internal regulations, the book reveals the intricate balance between safeguarding creditors' interests and respecting Egyptian sovereignty.
