About the Author
John Haines experiences in hunting, trapping and surviving as a homesteader in the Alaskan wilderness fueled his outpouring of haunting poetry of endless cold nights, howling wolves and deep primitive dreams. Mr. Hanies won a lifetime achievement award from the Library of Congress, found inspiration in the peaks of the Alaska range. He wrote many books of poetry, essays and an autobiography.
