PreSchool-Grade 2-Cousins Lucy and Alice are playing dress up and are constantly troubled by Lucy's little sister Laura. The toddler is a pest and cries when she can't have her way. The girls decide to hide from her, but their playful moments give way to panic when they discover that Laura is missing. They look frantically and are brought to tears when their search appears fruitless. However, this tale has a happy ending-the child is found safe and content on her mother's lap. The text reads smoothly, plot and setting are realistic, and the full-and double-page watercolor illustrations depicting interracial cousins are expressive and fluid. An adequate, but unexceptional story on a universal theme.
