Synopsis
John Wesley's five volume commentary Explanatory Notes upon the Old Testament and Explanatory Notes upon the New Testament are among his most important works. His original purpose was to make the deep truths and teachings of Scripture accessible to Christians who had neither the means nor the time to read through other multi-volume commentaries available at the time. This one-volume abridgement of his work affords the same service to modern readers that Wesley provided to readers in his day. The verse-by-verse selections cover every chapter of the Bible, with particular focus on the commentary that best expresses how Wesley applied the Bible's teachings to life. founding of the Methodist Church. His New Testament notes were published in 1755, while his three volumes on the Old Testament appeared between 1765 and 1766. The author of this book is an ordained Free Methodist elder and was the Editorial Director of the Free Methodist Publishing House for ten years.
