“Brummett does a masterful job in strategically covering certain domains within the discipline to provide students with a complete picture so that they feel comfortable approaching the discipline. I truly enjoy the book and feel it is a ′must have′ for anyone interested in teaching race, representation, and popular culture.”

“Brummett’s presentation of the material reflects the complexity of culture in a way that is understandable to students.... His use of artifacts engages students in critically understanding the construction of today’s mediated reality of culture and ideologies.”
