Review:
Maggie Wright is a marketing executive who, for the past two years, has been caring for her ailing mother and is now on a mission to keep a promise to find out about her cousin?s death. Carolyn had been engaged to T.J. MacGregor when she died in an auto accident, but a painting found at the accident site was completely unharmed while the car was destroyed. Carolyn was identified through dental records. Someone else had to be at the accident site and Maggie thinks it was MacGregor. Maggie finds the painting at a gallery and she is at once struck by the serenity and peacefulness it evokes. It is a painting of Seascape Inn, by T.J. MacGregor. Maggie goes to Seascape for an overdue vacation and while she is there she runs into MacGregor. Maggie is sure that the best way to get answers about whether or not he had anything to do with Carolyn's death, is to get to know MacGregor and hear his side of the story. Tyler James MacGregor has been at Seascape Inn for nine months. He is unable to step foot over the properties boundary without blacking out. He sees Maggie as another matchmaking attempt by Miss Hattie, the Inn's proprietress, so MacGregor is brash and abrupt with Maggie, trying to discourage her, but he is enchanted by her attitude and they fall into playful teasing. Then one day, Maggie watches from her bedroom window while MacGregor tries to cross the boundary and fails, and Miss Hattie and another villager come to his aid. Then later, as Maggie is headed for the lighthouse, she sees MacGregor fall unconscious and she runs to help him, knowing she has to pull him back over the boundary line. Their relationship begins to develop and they notice that strange things happen at Seascape. Maggie hears a man's voice telling her what to do. MacGregor can cross the boundary without becoming ill or passing out if he holds onto Maggie. And the weather suddenly becomes calmer and sunnier when they are together. Someone, or something wants them to be together. Neither one of them feels that they are capable of falling in love, but they have, and MacGregor opens up his heart to Maggie. Maggie thinks she is in a no-win situation, because no matter what she does, or doesn't do, she will lose MacGregor. The entity guides Maggie, and she must search deep within herself to discover what she and MacGregor really need, for themselves and each other. And if she is honest with herself and MacGregor, then they will get Beyond The Misty Shore and find true love.Ms. Barrett's characters are delightful, gregarious and just like you and me, believable! They have to search through a shroud of mist to get in tune with their true feelings, and are rewarded with unconditional love! A must read for any genre romance reader! Beyond The Misty Shore is a really terrific romance! It shares a subtle message that we all can learn from, and if we heed the message, we can all see Beyond The Misty Shore! Inspiring! Ms. Barrett shares the secret of love and romance! The mystic enchantment of Seascape Inn lies Beyond The Misty Shore! Powerful, moving and uplifting! Victoria Barrett writes pure magic!Gloria Miller -- Copyright © 1994-97 Literary Times, Inc. All rights reserved -- From Literary Times
