About the Author

Is the author and a professor of Criminal Law and Procedure. Mr. Israel has authored Kerper's Introduction to the Criminal Justice System, Modern Criminal Procedure (with Kamisar and LaFave), 1980; and, Criminal Procedure in a Nutshell (with LaFave). Currently teaching at the University of Michigan, Professor Israel has last taught at the University of Florida, and Stanford University. Mr. Israel graduated from Yale Law School in 1959, Order of the Coif, and clerked for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart form 1959-1961. He has served in Michigan as a member of the Governor's Commission on Criminal Investigation, as a reporter for the Commission on Uniform State Laws, and on the Committee to Revise Uniform Rules of Criminal Procedure.
