Reviews

Just under 8 inches square, this volume is bigger than most board books. That larger size gives more scope for the sturdy, die-cut flaps that make every double-page spread an interactive experience for toddlers and even babies who are able to grab them. The book’s title becomes a refrain for the short, rhyming text, encouraging kids to lift the flap and discover what’s hidden, beginning with “In this chair? / It’s a teddy bear! / But where’s my sweetie pie?” Bold and colorful, the simple forms that make up the digital illustrations show up clearly against the white backgrounds. Best of all, the image revealed by lifting the final flap is sure to bring a smile to both child and adult reader. As rewarding as a good game of peekaboo, this playful picture book will appeal to the same audience in the same way. Preschool-Grade 1. --Carolyn Phelan
