Phoebe Stone is the author of All the Blue Moons at the Wallace Hotel, which the Boston Globe called, "a book full of joy and beauty" and "a true children's classic," as well as the author and illustrator of When the Wind Bears Go Dancing; Go Away, Shelley Boo!; and What Night Do the Angels Wander? She has twice received the Vermont Council on the Arts Fellowship for painting, and her work has appeared in many galleries and museums. Phoebe grew up both painting and writing in a family of novelists and poets. She lives with her husband, photographer David Carlson, and son, Ethan, in Middlebury, Vermont. From Library Journal:
Grade 1-3-Emily Louise has a vivid imagination, and it starts working overtime when a new family moves in next door. She imagines that her new neighbor is a girl named Shelley Boo who is mean and misbehaves. She Rollerblades in her house and won't listen to the teacher at school. She's a swing-swiper on the playground and steals Emily's friends and spoils Halloween and.... Well, the narrative goes on and on. Suffice it to say that when Emily finally meets her neighbor, the child doesn't steal friends-she becomes one. Stone's strong suit is her artwork. Large, colorful pastel paintings fill the double-page spreads, from edge to edge. Giant flowers and assorted animals swirl across the page with Emily and her friends catching everyone up in the action. A comforting story about friendship and change.
