About the Author

Susan OConnell coordinates the elementary Professional Development Schools (PDS) program at the University of Maryland, College Park. A partnership between the university and a local school system, this program provides clinical training for teacher candidates and professional development experiences for inservice teachers. Additionally, OConnell is an educational consultant, conducts mathematics seminars for teachers throughout the country, and is the author of a series of teacher resource books.
