Kindergarten-Grade 2 Luminescent illustrations highlight this quiet tale of a young rabbit's early morning adventures. Raymond rises to the glow of his night light, and he goes about preparing for the day his wayputting on his favorite clothes, brushing the teeth of his reflection in the mirror as well as his own, and having playtime before breakfast instead of after. He finds his efforts are a bit premature, however, when a voice on the radio announces that it's much too early to be up. On his way back to bed, Raymond can't resist crawling into bed with his parents. The story is slight, but despite some loose ends in the plot, the book still offers a pleasant look at a young child's first steps toward self-reliance. The text is simple but charming and just right for sharing. The illustrations are a perfect complement, with soft neon colors beautifully capturing the early morning hours.Lori Janick, Parkwood Elementary, Deer Park, Tex.
