About the Author:

NICHOLAS VON MALTZAHN is a Professor of English at the University of Ottawa, Canada. His publications include an edition of Marvell's An Account of the Growth of Popery and Arbitrary Government for The Prose Works of Andrew Marvell (2003); the monograph Milton's History of Britain: Republican Historiography in the English Revolution (1991); and studies of Milton, Marvell and their contemporaries, and the reception of their works.

Review:

'The Chronology is of great value... The detail Nicholas von Maltzahn assembles is impressive, the product of considerable trawling through a huge range of documents, and there is much here that is new.' - Times Literary Supplement

'...magnificently fills a long-standing need...Scrupulously researched and lucidly written, this book deserves the warmest of welcomes.' - David Norbrook, Notes and Queries

'...an invaluable research tool, a landmark in Marvell studies. Scrupulously researched and prepared...the chronology is also readable, and I can imagine Marvellians pouring through the pages as much for pleasure as for profit. Fully informed about textual scholarship, von Maltzahn is an authoritative guide to the life and times of 'AM'. '- Patrick Cheney, Studies in English Literature
