Synopsis
The object of this book is to give the reader a practical appreciation of Critical Path Analysis. The reader, after finishing the book, should also be able to apply the technique successfully, and develop a more sophisticated approach from experience gained during the application, and also by reference to more advanced references. The text is aimed at a basic level, and throughout the text the points made are illustrated, where applicable, to the "Marketing a New Product" exercise. There is also a similar exercise to be done progressively by the reader referred to as the "Television Set." Graded exercises are also included to ensure that the reader has grasped the pertinent points. Included in the text are two variants on C.P.A. Activity-on-Node, which is popular on the continent and is developing in the U.K.; and, Line of Balance, which is suited to fluctuating batch manufacturing and extends the scope of C.P.A. The last chapters contain two full exercises which can be regarded as case studies. A complete set of answers is supplied including illustrated computer printouts. The text has been specially developed from consultancy and teaching experience in C.P.A.
