Clean, bright copy of this hardcover in its bright green adn black decorative dustjacket illustrated with the incredible old man the book is about, adds much to both the value and historical feel of the book. Jacket has edge wear all the way around, rates good/ very good. Book rates fine/like new used. NEVER library book, NOT priceclipped, NOT a worthless book of the month club edition. This is a fourth printing of the 1957 first edition. The book by former readers digest editor LeLand Stowe is about a true mountain man who lived a week hike from his neighbors for 40 years in the 20th century, the story documented there. The old guy saved the Trumpeter Swan, possibly from extinction by nuturing the flock that came to his lake. This is a great book to give to a kid who loves the outdoors about what a person can accomplish if he or she tries.

Printed on acidic groundwood paper and perfect bound in varnished printed card stock cover. Yellow edge tinting all around. Cover is creased at the spine, otherwise minor reading / shelf wear, edge wear; the bottom fore corner on the back is frayed. Binding is square and tight.
