Excerpt from Fouilles de Delphes<br/><br/>Les pages 1  104 de ce volume ont paru en juillet 1910, les pages 105  200 en octobre 1911, les pages 201  402 ont été données à l'imprimeur en juin 1928. On a déjà vu des publications de ce genre interrompues aussi longtemps. Quand il lui est enfin permis de terminer, d'ordinaire l'auteur s'excuse et invoque des circonstances atténuante's. Ce n'est pas précisément le cas aujourd'hui. Les inscriptions de Delphes, à partir de 1909, avaient commencé à paraître régulièrement, et elles pouvaient (je l'ai dit dès le mois de mai 1914) être toutes données très vite si elles ont tant tardé, le lecteur sait sans aucun doute, mais il ne faut pas se lasser de lui rappeler les circonstances exceptionnelles auxquelles, pour une part trop grande, ce retard est dû.
